Guernsey County Profile

We boast that we’re at the crossroads here in the county seat of Cambridge, with the intersection of Interstate Routes 70 and 77. But we’re so much more than a good location. This city and this county have spunk. In fact, in 2009, Cambridge was voted one in five of Ohio’s Best Hometowns! You’ll see it demonstrated in the way we’ve embraced our diverse culture and character. From bountiful farmland to innovative business models, from stellar medical facilities to top-notch school systems, and with prime hunting lands and state parks, Guernsey County provides a way of life that satisfies the soul. And our businesses are able to attract the best employees because of this quality of life.

Guernsey County businesses thrive in an area where the Midwest work ethic abounds. The 400+ members in the Chamber of Commerce work collaboratively to increase vital networking activities, recognize each other’s accomplishments, and continually upgrade the quality and volume of commerce. The Chamber’s role is to be the voice of businesses, and to enhance the culture and quality of life in the Cambridge area. We sponsor a Home, Garden, and Business Expo in the Spring that attracts thousands of attendees to businesses’ exhibit booths; we hold a Fall Auction to promote businesses and area artists; we also sponsor a Welcome Mat program that personally delivers more than 35 participating businesses’ information, as well as critical community information, to the homes of new residents. Monthly Business After Hours and networking events that often include training and upgrading business skills, accent the value that our membership organization provides the business community.

The Chamber of Commerce provides ongoing programs throughout the year that promote our existing businesses, as well attract new ones.

When you’re in Cambridge, please stop by the Chamber office at 607 Wheeling Avenue. We’d love to talk with you about the area and provide additional information you’ll find helpful. We’ll keep the light on for you!
